Curriculum and Assessment

"While Payson Schools is a small district, I like to think we do things in a big way. We use every tool available to make sure that curriculum content and instructional delivery meet the needs of all students. It is always gratifying when a teacher, having just attended a state meeting or training event, comes to me and says, 'We already do that.' Payson Schools may be small, but we are proactive in our commitment to providing students with a broad, challenging public school experience."

Curriculum and assessment go hand in hand in Payson Schools. Teachers use curriculum, textbooks and technology that align with the rigorous Arizona Academic Standards.
Student achievement is measured in multiple, diverse ways, from the state-level AIMS (Arizona's Instrument to Measure Standards) test to classroom assessments. Payson consistently exceeds national, state and county averages on standardized tests at all schools and grade levels.
